Are you the go-to problem solver when complex builds get tricky?Imagine you’re handed a new prototype: mixed-signal electronics, tight timelines, and a schematic set with challenging tolerances. What’s your plan? You methodically wire the tooling, solder to IPC standards, bring up the system with your oscilloscope and DMM, and when a board fails, you chase it down to the component—documenting data and ensuring compliance to spec. Role missionBuild and commission machines, tooling, and related prototypes for assembly operations while ensuring safe practices, precise documentation, and rock-solid performance.
Key responsibilities- Read, understand, and execute technical process specifications, procedures, and standards.
- Fabricate developmental/prototype electronic hardware and other critical assemblies.
- Perform machine build, field wiring, and debug for tooling and equipment.
- Assemble and test PCBs, sub-assemblies, devices, and systems per drawings for functionality and component conformance.
- Diagnose issues to the component level; perform checks and modifications to resolve problems.
- Capture test data and produce sketches, schematics, and graphical test summaries.
- Maintain safe operations and a spotless, organized work area per safety and housekeeping requirements.
- Offer and participate in continuous improvement initiatives to boost productivity and efficiency.
- Author detailed written input for design reviews, proposals, specifications, work standards, and business processes.
- Complete quality system forms, build documents, and reports on schedule.
- Collaborate with customers and vendors as needed.
- Keep the Shop Manager informed on project progress and issues.
- Assist with maintaining target inventory levels of components, supplies, and materials.
- Execute all other duties as assigned.
- Associate’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Technology or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years in electrical/electronic systems and circuits including testing, troubleshooting, soldering, wiring, prototype assembly, and data recording; automotive exposure preferred.
- Preferred credentials: IPC J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610.
- Knowledge of electronic assembly standards with strong ESD discipline.
- Ability to learn complex SMT assembly equipment.
- Expertise reading advanced schematics/assembly drawings and executing detailed test procedures.
- Strong foundation in digital, analog, power, RF, and FPGA electronics.
- Component-level testing and troubleshooting capability.
- Hands-on proficiency with DMMs, oscilloscopes, thermocouples, strain gauges, signal generators/analyzers, programmable power supplies, and related equipment.
- Comfort using common hand and power tools.
- Sharp problem-solving and dependable decision-making.
- Clear written and verbal communication with teams and customers.
- Multi-tasking effectiveness under pressure with on-time delivery.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel.
- Consistent PPE use and adherence to safety requirements.
- Ability to keep an orderly, well-maintained work area.
