Assistant Project Manager

- Responsible for direction or performance of staff activities, including employee development and guidance within assigned area(s).
- Supervises the administration of budgets and schedules, manages performance, reports progress, and initiates action to assure program/project objectives and schedules are met and work is performed within budget and according to specifications.
- Ensures processes and procedures are fully developed and implemented.
- Recommends changes to policies and guidelines where necessary.
- Creates and administers staff schedules and de-conflicts as necessary.
- Serves as a liaison between project teams, internal or external clients, or other functional areas of the organization.
- Ensures work is completed on time and within established quality standards and provides reports to internal and external clients and/or project/functional management- Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H); Surety; Security and Quality & Performance Management.
- May take on the responsibilities of the Project Manager during times of absence.
- Customer Interface – communications directly with senior customer representatives in all areas of responsibility.
- Overall responsibility for the compliance organizations’ execution, ensuring that combined cycle power generation projects are delivered within contract requirements, quality standards, safety protocols, and customer expectations.
- Requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13-15 years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of relevant work experience.
- Requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 15+ years of relevant experience or 19+ years of relevant work experience.
- Knowledge of Bechtel organization, policies, procedures, and programs including QA and Safety, particularly as they relate to combined cycle power generation.
- Experience with lump sum and reimbursable projects, especially in the combined cycle sector.
- Ability to effectively organize and staff a project team in a matrix organization.
- Knowledge and understanding of Bechtel standard tools, techniques, and procedures. Business and Commercial acumen.
- Knowledge and experience in Project Execution Plan development and implementation.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies.
- Knowledge and experience in contracts/subcontracts formulation, risk analysis, negotiations, and implementation including project insurance requirements.
- Knowledge of cross functional work processes and interface knowledge, especially Project Controls, Supply Chain management, Quality Management, and the ability to manage the relationships/interfaces with management and functional groups.
- Oral, written, and graphic communication and presentation skills.
