Collector
Consumers Credit Union is looking for a passionate Collector to join our team. As a Collector, you will support the Collection department with the management of our consumer lending and mortgage portfolio; acting on delinquent accounts, collecting on payments and/or collateral, while providing superior member service to enhance member relationships.
What you’ll be doing:
- Make collection calls to delinquent members (consumer, business and real estate).
- Place collection notes on all delinquent accounts called.
- Counsel delinquent member regarding their debts.
- Make on-site field calls as needed.
- Comply with all servicing guidelines for delinquent mortgages.
- Assist in any area as directed by your supervisor.
- Demonstrate knowledge of all Consumers products and services.
- Upholds member confidentiality.
What you’ll need:
- Knowledge of all aspects of collections, including a good understanding of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, and legal aspects of collections.
- Good analytical judgment and creative problem solving capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong listening and empathy skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Knowledge of current technology; able to easily navigate multiple software environments.
- Understanding of credit union history, philosophy, culture, values, and vision.
- Understanding of Consumers rules, regulations and operating policies and procedures.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
