Advanced CNC Installation & Retrofit Engineer

What impact will you make?

• Lead on-site installations and retrofits, coordinating with internal teams, customers, and contractors
• Own machine setup, commissioning, production validation runs, and final test execution
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and lubrication systems to root cause
• Provide warranty service and long-term field support that keeps customers running
• Coach customer personnel on safe operation, preventive maintenance, and best practices
• Document your work meticulously: service reports, checklists, time sheets, and customer updates
• Break down and prep machines for shipment, labeling components for flawless reassembly
• Uphold quality, safety, and environmental standards every step of the way
• Spot and suggest process improvements and cost-saving opportunities
• Support machine updates, field troubleshooting, and rework as required

Your toolkit

• Depth in CNC machine tools (3-axis, 5-axis, lathes, servos) with a strong mechanical aptitude
• Comfort with Fanuc, Heidenhain, Siemens, and/or Bosch Rexroth control platforms
• Electro-mechanical diagnostic skills and the ability to read schematics and technical drawings
• Hands-on proficiency with hand tools, electrical meters, and machine shop equipment
• Familiarity with software testing, troubleshooting, and recovery (with engineering support)
• Experience performing basic machining operations and alignments during installations
• Metal cutting experience is highly preferred

What it takes to succeed

• High school diploma or GED and 10–15 years in a skilled trade; or
• Associate’s degree and 6–10 years of experience; or
• Apprenticeship or technical certification
• Bonus: a degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, or Controls Engineering
• Comfort traveling 70–80% throughout North America
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
