Position Summary:
The Preventive Maintenance Planner is responsible for developing, scheduling, and optimizing preventive maintenance (PM) activities across facility equipment, production and support equipment within a high-volume die casting facility. This role ensures that maintenance tasks are properly scoped, resourced, and timed to prevent unplanned downtime and extend equipment life. The PM Planner works closely with maintenance, engineering, and production teams to coordinate PM tasks, manage parts inventory, and improve asset reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
PM Scheduling & Coordination:

PM Tasks & CMMS Management:
- Develop clear work instructions and task lists for each PM activity, based on OEM manuals and equipment history.
- Track PM tasks completion, backlog, technician feedback, and KPIs (e.g., schedule compliance, MTBF).
- Maintain accurate equipment records, PM frequencies, and maintenance history in the CMMS.
Parts & Tooling Support:
- Forecast and stage spare parts, tools, and materials needed for upcoming PMs.
- Collaborate with purchasing and inventory teams to ensure critical spares availability.
- Collaborate with the MP&L, Tool & Die and Maintenance teams to resolve material shortages and tooling bottlenecks, re-prioritizing PM tasks as necessary to maintain a high PM Compliance rate
Reliability & Continuous Improvement:
- Analyze trends in breakdowns and PM effectiveness to improve task frequency, scope, or method while also recommending changes to PM intervals, task sequences, or checklists for critical assets.
- Assist in root cause analysis for repeat PM task failures or missed PMs.
Compliance & Safety:
- Work with the Safety department to ensure the PM tasks comply with plant safety requirements, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and regulatory standards.
- Support audits by maintaining clean, complete records of all scheduled maintenance.
- Promote proactive maintenance culture and 5S.
Qualifications:
Education:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical training or associate degree in maintenance, mechanical/electrical systems, or industrial technology preferred.
Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in maintenance planning, CMMS use, or industrial equipment support.
- Familiarity with manufacturing equipment.

- Excellent organization, time management, and communication skills.
- Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and equipment drawings.
- Strong understanding of maintenance processes and asset life cycles.
Working Conditions:
- Primarily office-based with frequent time spent in plant environments.
- Requires walking through manufacturing areas, wearing PPE, and inspecting equipment.
- May involve occasional off-hours or weekend coordination to align with PM windows.
- Working under harsh conditions to include noise, heat, etc..
