IT Systems Administrator | Grand Rapids, MI

Salary Range: $69,000 - $108,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain critical IT infrastructure including servers, networks, and workstations across office and factory environments.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for production systems, shop floor devices, and operational technology (OT).
• Implement and monitor cybersecurity measures to protect both IT and OT networks and data.
• Develop, test, and maintain robust backup and disaster recovery plans for all critical systems.
• Administer and support manufacturing-specific applications such as MES, ERP modules, and SCADA systems.
• Perform routine system monitoring, performance tuning, and capacity planning to ensure optimal system health and availability.
• Manage network infrastructure, including switches, firewalls, and wireless access points, ensuring reliable connectivity for production operations.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proven expertise in managing Windows Server environments, Active Directory, and virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V).
• Strong understanding of network infrastructure, security protocols, firewalls, and industrial networking (e.g., Ethernet/IP).
• Experience supporting critical manufacturing IT/OT systems, including SCADA, MES, and PLC connectivity.
• Proficiency in scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automation, system monitoring, and task management.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex hardware/software issues under pressure to ensure operational uptime.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience supporting or integrating with Operational Technology (OT) or Industrial Control Systems (ICS).
• Familiarity with ERP or MES systems commonly used in manufacturing environments (e.g., SAP, Infor, Plex).
• Understanding of manufacturing-specific networking protocols (e.g., Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP).
• Knowledge of IT/OT security best practices and compliance frameworks relevant to industrial environments.
