Key Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and validate laser welding processes for new and existing products.
• Program, set up, and troubleshoot laser welding equipment, including robots and vision systems.
• Conduct root cause analysis for laser weld defects and implement effective corrective actions.
• Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to ensure weldability and manufacturability of components.
• Establish and maintain process control parameters, work instructions, and comprehensive documentation for laser welding operations.
• Perform metallurgical analysis and mechanical testing of weld joints to assess quality and integrity.
• Provide technical expertise and support to production for complex laser welding issues and continuous improvement initiatives.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Welding Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience in laser welding process development, optimization, and troubleshooting in a manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated expertise with industrial laser welding technologies (e.g., fiber, Nd:YAG, CO2) and associated equipment.
• Strong understanding of welding metallurgy, material science, and common weld defects for various alloys.
• Proficiency in applying statistical process control (SPC), design of experiments (DOE), and root cause analysis methodologies.
• Experience with CAD software and the design of welding fixtures and tooling.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with advanced metallurgical analysis and characterization techniques for laser welds.
• Proficiency in CAD/CAM software for laser system programming and fixture design.
• Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) and data analysis for process optimization.
• Experience integrating laser welding with robotic or automated manufacturing cells.
