Job Description:

The Psychiatrist is a primary provider of behavioral health care services at WWFHC, performing a full range of psychiatric duties in a full-functioning capacity. The Psychiatrist works with behavioral health and primary care providers under established protocols and clinical policies to deliver quality integrated health care to patients.

Essential Position Functions and Duties:

• Participate in diagnosis and treatment of patients, including physical, mental, and neurological examinations.
• Review medical information for social security disability benefits and provide expert opinions.
• Treat medical, surgical, psychiatric, and neurological problems.
• Consult with patients, families, and other professionals to interpret clinical findings.
• Conduct group and family therapy sessions.
• Prepare diagnostic reports for various officials and agencies.
• Provide expert witness testimony in legal and administrative settings.
• Supervise and instruct support staff and residents.
• Prescribe medications for physical and psychological disorders.
• Participate in staff conferences and pursue advanced training.
• Research cognitive disorders and deliver educational speeches.
• Oversee professional staff work and perform complex psychiatric assignments.

• Communicate effectively and maintain confidentiality.
• Manage self and time efficiently, including working weekends/shifts as needed.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Medical degree from an accredited institution.
• Board eligible/certified in a primary care specialty.
• Completion of psychiatric residency training.
• Unrestricted medical license in Michigan.
• American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry preferred.
• Eligible for hospital privileges and in good standing.
