Portland Public Schools seeks an innovative and passionate educator to join our team as a Lower Elementary Teacher at Oakwood Elementary. Our district is collaborative and committed to supporting staff growth, instructional innovation, and positive outcomes for every student.

• Exceptional communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Understanding of, or demonstrated training in, PBIS and MTSS frameworks
• Ability to handle complex or stressful situations with sound judgment, professionalism, and composure
• High character, a positive sense of humor, and compassion for students, families, and staff
• Ability to effectively integrate technology into teaching and learning practices
• Experience working with students with diverse learning needs
• Willingness to contribute to extracurricular programs and the broader school community

Eligible candidates must meet the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution
• Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with an Elementary endorsement
• Strong foundation in subject area content and Common Core standards
• Ability to use assessments and student data to guide meaningful instruction
• Ability to build and sustain positive working relationships with students, staff, parents, and district colleagues
• Demonstrated ability to support and improve student achievement outcomes
• Commitment to maintaining a safe school climate with high expectations, strong collaboration, positive morale, and community involvement

Position Details:

• Title: Elementary Teacher
• Reports to: Building Principal
• Calendar: As per District Calendar and PEA contract
• Compensation: In accordance with PEA contract
