Medical Assistant
Family / internal medicine clinic seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to join our team. Looking for a candidate with a dependable and positive attitude to assist in providing quality care to patients. This is an excellent opportunity for those interested in patient service and various medical responsibilities.
Pay rate is $16-$21 per hour based on experience and interview with room for growth. On-the-job training for our electronic medical records (EMR) and other work processes will be provided. Responsibilities (include but not limited to) :- Patient intake: Greeting patients, verifying insurance information, taking medical histories, and recording current medications.
- Vital signs: Measuring blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, height and weight.
- Exam preparation: Preparing exam rooms, assisting with patient draping, and setting up medical equipment needed.
- Clinical assistance: Assisting the physician during exams, performing basic procedures like wound care, ear washes, and administering injections as permitted by state law.
- Specimen collection: collecting urine samples and preparing specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Documentation: Recording patient information accurately in electronic medical records, including vital signs, medical history, HPI and test results.
- Administrative tasks: Scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, handling phone calls, updating patient demographics, refilling RX requests, completing insurance forms and prior authorizations.
- Patient education: Providing instructions on medication usage, post-procedure care, and health maintenance practices as directed.
- Inventory management: Maintaining supplies and equipment in the clinic, ordering new stock as needed Skills:
- Strong communication skills: Ability to interact effectively with patients, physicians, and other healthcare staff.
- Attention to detail: Accurate data entry and record keeping are essential.
- Technical skills: Proficiency in using medical equipment such as an electrocardiogram (EKG), blood pressure monitor, EMR, etc.
- Basic understanding of medical terminology: Ability to interpret and document medical information.
