Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, active Social Worker license and minimum 1+ years School Social Work experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Make a meaningful impact by supporting students’ well-being and success as a school-based Social Worker within a dynamic K-12 special education setting. This contract opportunity, conveniently located near Sterling Heights, MI, covers both extended school year (ESY) and traditional school year (NSY) periods. You’ll collaborate onsite with faculty and families, providing critical services to help students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Qualifications & Required Experience:
- Active Michigan school social work certification (310) required—please be prepared to submit proof when presenting your application.
- K-12 school-based social work experience, ideally within special education.
- Strong knowledge of individual and group counseling techniques, IEP process, and crisis intervention.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- If not currently certified, supervision arrangements must be finalized prior to interview invitation.
- Comfortable with onsite work only.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct social-emotional and behavioral support to K-12 students in special education programs.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and collaborate on Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
- Conduct risk assessments, manage crisis intervention, and support families with referrals to community resources.
- Support ESY program from June 30, 2026, to August 6, 2026 (up to 25 hours/week), followed by NSY coverage from August 17, 2026, to June 11, 2027 (up to 35 hours/week).
- Maintain accurate documentation aligned with school and district standards.
