The pay for this exciting opportunity is $98,000 , reflecting our commitment to attracting top talent in the field. Your day as a Director, Summer Discovery & Out of School Time (OST) LearningAs the Director of Summer Discovery and Out of School Time (OST) Learning at United Way for Southeastern Michigan (UWSEM), you will lead the organization's mission in developing and implementing impactful OST programs. Your primary focus will be overseeing the Summer Discovery program, where UWSEM acts as both the fiduciary and local implementation partner. This vital role entails collaborating with key stakeholders, including funders and community organizations, to set the strategic vision for UWSEM's partnerships with OST providers. You will manage a cross-functional team, ensuring that resources are effectively allocated and that new providers are recruited. Your expertise in public school systems will be crucial as you coordinate programming, establish centralized enrollment for families, and oversee grant stewardship.
As a champion for equity and a thought leader in OST, you will represent UWSEM in community engagements, fostering partnerships that enhance the reach and quality of Summer Discovery and OST initiatives across the region.
Requirements for this Director, Summer Discovery & Out of School Time (OST) Learning jobTo excel as the Director of Summer Discovery and Out of School Time (OST) Learning at United Way for Southeastern Michigan (UWSEM), a comprehensive skill set is essential. A solid understanding of the regional context, especially regarding K-12 public school systems and community-based organizations that support children in Southeastern Michigan, is crucial. Candidates should possess significant experience in OST program design and delivery, coupled with a proven track record of leading large-scale, cross-functional projects.
Strong problem-solving and organizational skills will enable you to effectively manage multiple initiatives simultaneously. Additionally, the ability to cultivate collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders, including senior leaders, is vital. Success in this role requires outstanding independent work capabilities alongside team collaboration.
Exceptional presentation skills are necessary to clearly articulate ideas and proposals, whether facilitating discussions or engaging wider audiences.
Demonstrated data analysis proficiency is also critical to drive decisions and enhance program outcomes.
Knowledge and skills required for the position are
- Bachelor's degree in education, Social Work or related field required
- A master's degree or other advanced degree strongly preferred
- 6+ years of experience working within school systems and/or non-profit organizations
- At least 3 years of experience working in a school district's central office or the leadership team of a large non-profit
- Demonstrated ability to analyze data and use it to drive decisions and improve outcomes
Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday with some evening and weekend events
Work is hybrid to include in-office, from home, and on-site from multiple sites
