The Role

As a Right of Way Agent in Michigan, you will be the link between Halo, our clients, and local landowners. You will help secure easements, surface use agreements, access rights, and related documents for energy and infrastructure projects. Your work may support power, pipeline, road, utility, forestry, or site access needs.

You will explain project details, answer questions, negotiate agreements, and document each step with care. This is a role for someone who enjoys people, field work, and steady follow-through.

What You Will Do

Your days will include outreach, meetings, document review, and team coordination. Some work will happen by phone or email. Some work will happen on the road, at a kitchen table, or during a route walk. Michigan projects can include rural, suburban, and mixed-use areas, so every tract may look different. You will manage your time with independence while keeping the team updated.

• Build trust with Michigan landowners through calls, letters, field visits, and in-person meetings.
• Explain easement terms, access needs, tree work, and project impacts in plain language.
• Negotiate agreements within approved limits and raise unique requests early.
• Review exhibits, parcel data, route details, and work descriptions for accuracy.
• Submit notes, agreement requests, tree forms, and closeout documents on time.

You will also partner with Project Managers, Title, GIS, Admin, forestry teams, and clients. You will help spot issues early, keep records clean, and support route walks, staking requests, and tract visits across Michigan.

What You Bring

You do not need to know every detail on day one. You do need curiosity, strong follow-through, and the confidence to speak with landowners in a respectful way. You should be able to learn tools, read project materials, and stay organized when priorities change. Halo will support you with guidance, resources, and experienced teammates.

• Experience in right of way, land, real estate, customer service, negotiation, or field work.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to review parcel data, maps, exhibits, surveys, or construction drawings.
• Comfort using Google Drive, spreadsheets, trackers, and project tools.
• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel for Michigan tract visits.

A Michigan notary commission, or the ability to obtain one, is preferred. A Michigan real estate license, or interest in pursuing one, is also valued. Prior utility, land acquisition, oil and gas, or infrastructure experience is a plus.

How You Will Grow

In your first 30 days, you will learn key agreement terms, complete ride-alongs, begin outreach, and submit accurate notes. By 90 days, you will manage outreach, update trackers, and negotiate agreements with support. By six months, you will work with more independence and coordinate across teams. By 12 months, you may manage several tracts or projects and help newer team members.
