Embedded Systems Engineer | Plainwell, MI

Salary Range: $82,000 - $127,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test embedded hardware and firmware for manufacturing equipment and automation.
• Troubleshoot and debug existing embedded systems, PLCs, and industrial controls to minimize production downtime.
• Integrate embedded systems with factory automation, SCADA, and MES platforms for data acquisition and control.
• Optimize embedded software and hardware for performance, reliability, and energy efficiency in production environments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (mechanical, electrical, production) to define system requirements and ensure seamless implementation.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and user manuals for embedded solutions.
• Ensure embedded systems comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality requirements for manufacturing processes.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems development on microcontrollers.
• Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) and bare-metal programming.
• Strong understanding of digital and analog electronics, including reading schematics and datasheets.
• Hands-on experience with embedded debugging tools (JTAG/SWD, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers).
• Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, EtherCAT, CAN) or PLC integration.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, OPC UA, EtherCAT, PROFINET).
• Familiarity with PLC programming or integration with industrial automation systems.
• Knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Testability (DFT) principles.
• Experience integrating with industrial vision systems or robotics.
