Instrument and Control Technician
Large utility is looking for an Instrument and Control Technician in Olive Township, MI. This role requires an Associate's degree in a technical field to test, troubleshoot, and program complex DCS and PLC systems using diagnostic tools and schematic interpretation within an industrial power generation environment. education: Associates responsibilities:
- Test, troubleshoot, and maintain computer-based control systems, including DCS and PLC environments.
- Perform maintenance and calibration on pneumatic, electronic, and mechanical plant equipment.
- Interpret and edit control logic drawings, electrical schematics, and technical blueprints.
- Analyze plant processes to recommend equipment upgrades and enhancements.
- Use diagnostic instruments such as voltmeters, amp meters, and oscilloscopes for field testing.
- Coordinate with internal departments and external vendors to manage installs, repairs, and parts procurement.
- Resolve computer hardware and software issues within the process control environment.
- Maintain detailed documentation and reports regarding equipment status and system modifications.
- Collaborate with engineers and subject matter experts to prioritize work and provide technical expertise.
- Ability to work in an industrial surrounding including high and low temperature environments.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Work as a team or alone depending on the needs of the service.
- Self-motivated and organized.
- Use basic test equipment: Digital voltage meter, Oscilloscope, etc.
- Emerson Ovation DCS experience.
- PLC programming.
- HART programmer experience.
- Associates degree in the requisite scientific or technical field.
- College Degree focusing in Electronic, Electrical, and/or Computer Engineering technology.
