Laser Optics Specialist
Our client is a well known machine distributor and they are seeking a local Laser Optics Specialist for their team. You will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex laser and fiber optic equipment, performing precision assembly and alignment of optical components, conducting system performance tests, ensuring safety compliance, and driving component reliability through detailed analysis. Required to have experience with optics and photonics, and laser cutting troubleshooting. You will be required to travel 30%, to client sites nationwide. education: High School responsibilities:
- Operate and Maintain Laser Equipment: Run complex laser and fiber optic equipment, performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting malfunctions, and ensuring optimal performance.
- Precision Assembly and Alignment: Assemble precision opto-mechanical and electro-optical components, including the precise optical alignment of lasers, lenses, and mirrors.
- System Testing and Data Collection: Conduct system performance tests and collect photonic test data to support failure analyses.
- Safety and Cleanroom Protocols: Adhere to strict laser safety protocols and maintain clean work environments (e.g., clean rooms) to prevent sensitive equipment contamination.
- Comprehensive Documentation: Document all procedures, test results, maintenance activities, and keep accurate records of optics replacements (categorized by customer, serial number, dates, and reason for failure).
- Failure Analysis and Improvement: Analyze records to identify repeat failures, perform root cause analysis, and research required information using resources like SAP.
- Process Development: Develop procedures and infrastructure for in-house optics repairs and hot testing.
- Stock Management and Supplier Interface: Ensure adequate stock quantities of optical components and interface directly with the factory and optics suppliers to improve component reliability.
- Reporting and KPIs: Prepare and share necessary reports, including quarterly reports and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for management.
- Field Support and Training: Travel to customer sites for root cause analysis of optics failures (up to 30% travel), assist Field Service Technicians with troubleshooting, and provide training to the Service department team members as needed.
- Issue Resolution and Administration: Identify and escalate issues, accurately process and record call transactions, and perform administrative tasks as required.
