Metropolitan Behavioral Health (a UHS Facility)

A growing, 144-bed behavioral health facility – Metropolitan Behavioral Hospital provides a full continuum of inpatient services across the entire patient population, including specialty programs to serve adolescents, adults and older adults, and perform behavioral health assessments 24 hours a day. Additionally, programs for co-occurring behavioral health and substance use issues will be offered to meet the unique needs of this patient population. The facility will provide a robust outpatient program utilizing a combination of group, family and individual therapy.

Position Summary:

The Admissions Nurse position will work closely with intake and unit staff to coordinate and facilitate the safe and efficient admission of patients accepted to the facility. The admissions nurse will perform level of care assessments on walk-in patients and nursing assessments on direct admit patients. The admissions nurse will use the EMR system and admission packet to complete necessary intake documentation and consents as well as conduct thorough assessments of new patients including gathering detailed medical and psychiatric histories, current medications, allergies, and legal status. The admissions nurse will coordinate with intake, the psychiatrist, and unit nurse to ensure all appropriate precautions are ordered, proper documentation is in place, and all relevant information is passed on to the receiving nurse to ensure a safe handoff of all incoming patients.

Education and License:

• Associate’s in nursing or BSN with Michigan RN license
• Hospital experience required, psychiatric hospital experience strongly preferred,
• Must be willing to work evenings/nights
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, ability to work with a multidisciplinary team, and experience working with an EMR
