The Controls Engineer II plays a pivotal role in leading automation system design and commissioning efforts. This role involves troubleshooting complex automation issues and contributing significantly to maintaining project timelines and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Lead portions of automation system design, integration, and commissioning.

• Design electrical hardware layouts, control panels, and connectivity systems.

• Troubleshoot complex hardware, PLC, motion, and system-level issues.

• Develop, modify, and test Siemens PLC logic.

• Contribute to HMI development.

• Support project scheduling and team alignment both in-house and on-site.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success.

Essential Skills

• PLC Programming (Siemens Step 7)

• Powertrain experience

• Hardware panel design

• HMI programming

• Vision system expertise

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Ford FAST certification

• Experience with VFD, Servo, and Drive Controllers

• Proficient in MS Office for technical documentation and reporting

• Valid passport holder

Work Environment

This position requires a commitment to overtime, with an expectation of 50-60 hours per week. The role is primarily on-site in Wixom, with approximately 30% travel required. Most travel is local to Detroit, with some international trips, including potential travel to Cleveland, Windsor, and possibly Mexico.

This is a Contract position based out of Wixom, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $50.00/hr.
