Position Overview
The Lakeland Hawks are seeking a dedicated Assistant Coach to support the Head Coach for our 2015 birth year (11U A Travel - Howe 1) team. This program emphasizes player development, structure, and a positive team culture while competing at the A Travel level. The Assistant Coach will work closely with the Head Coach to support practice execution, reinforce team systems, and assist with player development.

Team Commitment
Practices: 3 per week
Location: Lakeland Ice Arena
Season: Fall/Winter
Tournaments: 3-5 travel tournaments

Responsibilities
Assist with on-ice practices and individual skill development
Support implementation of team systems and structure
Assist with bench operations during games, including line changes and player communication
Provide positive, age-appropriate feedback to players
Reinforce team standards, work ethic, and culture
Support a positive, disciplined environment focused on development and teamwork
Maintain professional communication with players and families
Assist with tournament and travel logistics as needed

Preferred Qualifications
Previous hockey coaching experience preferred
High-level playing background is a plus
Experience working with youth players ages 9-11 preferred
Current USA Hockey coaching certification or willingness to obtain
Able to complete SafeSport training and background screening
Strong leadership and communication skills
Team-first mindset and collaborative coaching style

Compensation
This is a paid seasonal coaching position. Coaches are compensated per event (practices, games, and tournaments). Pay is based on experience and availability.
