Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounts Payable Clerk to join our finance team in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will be responsible for processing invoices, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting timely and accurate vendor payments in accordance with company policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, verify, and process vendor invoices accurately and efficiently
- Match purchase orders, invoices, and receipts
- Enter and maintain accounts payable data in accounting systems
- Prepare and process payments (checks, ACH, wire transfers)
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
- Communicate with vendors regarding payment inquiries and issues
- Assist with month-end closing and financial reporting
- Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records and documentation
- Support audits by providing required documentation and reports
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure proper approvals and coding
Qualifications
- Previous experience in accounts payable or a related accounting role preferred
- Basic understanding of accounting principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., ERP systems)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to handle confidential financial information
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
