On behalf of a leading aerospace and defense manufacturer in Kalamazoo, MI, we are hiring a seasoned quality professional to safeguard the integrity of precision CNC-machined components. This direct hire role places you at the center of flight-critical quality, where meticulous inspections, tight tolerances, and rigorous standards are part of everyday work.

Location: Kalamazoo, MI
Employment: Direct hire
Compensation: $20–$28 per hour, DOE
Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 6:00 AM–4:00 PM (4-day workweek)

A Day in the Life

Start your morning at the inspection bench confirming incoming certifications and measuring critical features on received lots. Move to the shop floor to verify in-process dimensions at the CNC cells, collaborating with machinists to keep parts on target. When a new part number launches, you take the lead on AS9102-compliant First Article Inspection, translating complex GD&T callouts into actionable inspection steps. If a nonconformance appears, you shift into investigator mode—segregating material, documenting findings for MRB, and contributing data for corrective actions. Throughout the day, you keep records current in the ERP, prepare for upcoming internal and customer audits, and verify supplier special process certifications to ensure full traceability.

What You Will Tackle

• Perform receiving, in-process, and final inspections on CNC-machined aerospace components
• Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T to validate critical dimensions
• Own AS9102 First Article Inspections and supporting documentation packages
• Operate advanced gaging and layout tools: micrometers, bore gages, surface plate equipment, optical comparator, and more
• Identify and document nonconformances; support MRB, corrective action, and root cause analysis
• Audit routers, work orders, and quality records for completeness and accuracy
• Verify supplier and special process certifications for compliance
• Support internal and customer audits; maintain precise records in the ERP

What You Bring

• 3–5 years of inspection experience in aerospace or precision machining
• Proven blueprint reading with applied GD&T expertise
• Hands-on proficiency with precision metrology and inspection tools
• Working knowledge of AS9100 and AS9102
• Background supporting root cause, corrective actions, and continuous improvement
• Comfort using ERP systems and maintaining digital quality records
• Detail orientation, independence, and a mindset for ongoing improvement
