Heavy Equipment Operator

An established industrial operation in the Detroit area is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to transport materials safely and efficiently within an production environment. The position involves operating heavy machinery, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring adherence to all safety and operational procedures. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to maintaining a safe, productive work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate haul trucks and other heavy equipment safely and efficiently in all areas of the operation.
  • Follow all company and regulatory safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Maintain awareness of hazards and changing conditions throughout the worksite.
  • Perform basic maintenance on conveyors, crushers, and screen decks (e.g., replacing idlers, greasing bearings, changing screens, clearing chutes).
  • Conduct basic mobile equipment servicing, such as adding fluids, greasing, and replacing covers or guards.
  • Assist maintenance personnel with assigned repair or service tasks as directed.
  • Perform housekeeping and inspection duties to maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
  • Accurately complete required paperwork and maintain records of operational and production data.
  • Communicate clearly with supervisors and team members regarding safety, equipment condition, and production concerns.
  • Cross-train and perform additional duties as assigned in, crushing, screening, or support functions.
  • Comply with all company safety rules and applicable regulatory standards.

Qualifications and Skills

  • At least one (1) year of previous experience operating heavy equipment such as haul trucks, loaders, or skid steers preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Mechanical and/or electrical aptitude strongly desired.
  • Proven ability to identify and resolve problems safely and efficiently.
  • Strong situational awareness and attention to detail to promote a safe work environment.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Must be able to pass a physical exam and drug screening.
  • Reliable attendance and the ability to work a consistent schedule are required.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

  • Ability to work in an industrial environment with variable temperatures and conditions year-round.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Compliance with all required personal protective equipment (PPE) standards.
Pay Range: Up to USD $22.30/Hr.
