Manufacturing Engineer

This Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the retrofit of robot products, primarily welding and material robots imported from Japan. The role involves adapting these robots to meet specific customer requirements, such as end-of-arm tooling and welding add-ons. The position is based at the West Campus in Auburn Hills, where the engineer will work alongside technicians during the build phase, providing essential manufacturing engineering support. This includes leading and executing effective manufacturing engineering and build processes from initial planning through to final shipment. The engineer ensures product quality, project alignment, and successful cross-functional collaboration throughout the build process. Two positions are available: one for the 1st shift (6am - 2:30pm) and another for the 2nd shift (2pm-10pm).
Responsibilities

Develop and maintain control plans, build plans, quality documentation, safety requirements, PPE specifications, and packaging/shipping plans in accordance with quality processes.

Estimate labor, design, build, and engineering needs for projects.

Coordinate and conduct manufacturing review meetings to maintain project schedules.

Interface with purchasing regarding supplier/component selection and initiate purchase requisitions.

Coordinate validation testing of product to design requirements.

Manage customer-supplied items to quality process and customer requirements.

Maintain rigorous document control per quality procedures.

Address issues and lead problem-solving activities using established quality processes.

Act as a liaison between Project Managers, Engineers, Customers, Vendors, and Manufacturing teams to ensure successful project execution.

Provide ongoing updates to project teams and management on project status.

Identify, propose, and justify tooling and equipment improvements that enhance quality and reduce manufacturing costs.

Ensure reliable, consistent attendance.

Prepare and maintain detailed project documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and progress reports.

Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
Essential Skills
-
5+ years of experience working with automation equipment.
-
5+ years of experience debugging automation equipment.
-
5+ years of experience reading and interpreting mechanical and electrical drawings.

5+ years of experience performing time studies and process improvements.
-
Experience in robotics, welding, and material handling.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
-
Robot experience, preferably with Our Client robots.

Previous integrator experience is ideal.

Knowledge of ISO processes and safety processes.
Work Environment
Work will primarily be performed on the manufacturing floor, in collaboration with Manufacturing Technicians to complete robot builds. This is not a desk job. The workweek consists of roughly 50 hours, including two Saturdays per month. No travel is required, although occasional visits to another facility in Pontiac may be necessary.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
