Our team works out of a newly built office in Brighton, providing a welcome space that supports teamwork, connection, and day-to-day collaboration.
About the Construction Shop Manager Position
The Shop Manager oversees the company's equipment fleet and shop team, ensuring field crews have what they need to operate safely and efficiently. Core responsibilities include managing preventative maintenance and repair programs, logistics, fabrication, and day-to-day shop operations.
Supporting multiple active projects across Metro Detroit and beyond requires constant planning and communication. A strong grasp of how people and equipment can be deployed and redeployed is essential to keeping operations running smoothly. This role carries direct responsibility for ensuring the timely maintenance and repair of a diverse fleet, including trucks, loaders, excavators, and other specialized construction equipment.
The Shop Manager leads and mentors a team of Mechanics, Laborers, and Truck Drivers, directing work priorities and holding the team accountable to quality and efficiency standards. Building effective working relationships with site superintendents, construction crews, subcontractors, vendors, and the office team is equally important to the role.
Desired Experience, Skills, and Abilities for the Shop Manager Position
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in Materials or Logistics Management, Heavy Equipment Repair or a related field
- Three or more years’ experience managing or performing repairs and maintenance of heavy equipment, preferably in the heavy civil construction field
- Positive, “Can Do” attitude
- Software & general technical proficiency
- 100% commitment to safety
