Process Controls & Instrumentation Maintenance Technician
Day-in-the-life at BASF Wyandotte
Imagine starting your shift walking the BASF Wyandotte Manufacturing site, reviewing a work order for a temperature transmitter calibration, then teaming up with an engineer to plan a control valve upgrade. As an I&E Technician II – Mechanical Equipment (Wyandotte, MI – Resins), you install, maintain, and repair plant equipment while troubleshooting electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, PLC, and automation systems that keep operations running safely and reliably.

What you'll tackle
- Collaborate with maintenance supervision, fellow technicians, engineers, and production to design plant equipment changes and modifications.
- Drive equipment reliability through systematic maintenance, analysis, and troubleshooting; document findings and provide recommendations to supervision.
- Advise planners on parts, materials, and estimated labor time for instrumentation and electrical repairs to support job planning and scheduling.
- Calibrate instruments using pressure, temperature, flow, and related calibration equipment.
- Engage in plant safety meetings and work within BASF site and corporate procedures.
- Model a team-first approach and maintain a strong attendance record.
- Provide call-in support for after-hours production needs; work overtime and weekends when required.
Scope within the ED group
You'll own repair and maintenance of instrument equipment across the site within the ED group, ensuring uptime and consistent performance.
Schedule & availability
- Monday–Friday rotating 10-hour day shifts
- Overtime as necessary, including potential weekend and after-hours call-ins
Physical demands
- Lift up to 50 lbs.; carry up to 25 lbs.; push/pull up to 25 lbs.
- Bend, kneel, squat, and crawl as tasks require.
- Climb vertical fixed ladders with ladder cages, as well as portable step and extension ladders.
- Work in confined spaces when needed.

- Industrial electrical experience
- High School diploma or GED
- Basic computer skills
