Position Summary

The Director of Statewide Programs leads the development, execution, management, and expansion of MBBA member-facing programs. This role leads our programming team, which is responsible for the strategic expansion of programs statewide, constantly recruiting and enhancing the member experience, overseeing the delivery of high-impact programs.

Key Responsibilities

Programs Oversight & Expansion

  • Support and facilitate the development and expansion of programs across Michigan.
  • Oversee the execution and evaluation of all MBBA programs, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and community needs.
  • Work closely with program leads to evaluate impact, monitor outcomes, manage budgets, incorporate member feedback, and refine delivery methods.
  • Ensure continuous improvement and scaling of signature programs.
  • Oversee membership experience and recruitment while serving as a visible ambassador for MBBA programs across Michigan’s business community.

Leadership & Operational Excellence

  • Lead, supervise, and guide the programs team to support meeting organization goals.
  • Model our Members-First philosophy by leading with empathy, accountability, and responsiveness to the voices and experiences of our members.
  • Foster a high-performing, mission-driven team centering organizational values of accountability, collaboration, and our member-first philosophy.
  • Lead performance management, staff development, and talent acquisition processes.
  • Proactively support knowledge sharing and transparency through regular updates, reports, and other collaborative tools.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Build and maintain relationships with key partners, funders, and community stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with development and external affairs to identify and pursue funding opportunities that support program growth.
  • Proactively work with the internal operations team to ensure programs are meeting benchmarks required for third-party support where applicable.
  • Facilitate internal communication and coordination to ensure alignment on timelines, deliverables, and priorities.

What We’re Looking For

  • Required:
    • 5+ years of experience in nonprofit, public, or entrepreneurial sectors.
    • 2+ years managing a team and proven ability to lead high-functioning teams and manage complex programs and operations.
    • Strong strategic thinking and execution skills.
    • Experience managing budgets, grants, and compliance.
    • Deep commitment to racial equity, economic justice, and supporting Black entrepreneurs.
  • Preferred:
    • Experience in Michigan's entrepreneurial ecosystem

Compensation & Benefits

Anticipated Salary: $$85,000 - $100,000
