Title: Market Manager
Department: Sales
Reports to: Regional Sales Manager
Compensation: Salary + Bonus Job Summary
The Market Manager is responsible for achieving sales targets and generating sales by promoting TCWC products to accounts as well as consumers. The Market Manager will build relationships during account visits, merchandising, events, and tastings. The role is flexible, and tasks can vary day-to-day, some shifts may include daytime, evening, and some weekends. A successful Market Manager will possess a skill set that includes but is not limited to sales closing tactics, problem-solving, time management, organization, team collaboration and professional communication in a timely manner. Strong brand knowledge and a passion for whiskey and the adult beverage industry is a must. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Achieve sales goals monthly, quarterly and annually
- Utilization of sales software to identify current sales, trends and opportunities
- Attend and participate in weekly sales meetings
- Management of budgets (T&E, Sales and Marketing, local funds, etc.)
- Prepare concise and accurate reports, proposals and documentation for sales presentations
- Maintain working relationships with existing accounts to ensure they receive exceptional service and to identify potential new sales opportunities
- Identify prospective accounts, set appointments, and make effective sales calls while building relationships
- Manage sales cycle to close new and current business in all segments, including delivery of product or POS whenever and wherever needed
- Possess in-depth product knowledge and be able to conduct demos
- Assist with single barrel sampling and sales, including delivery of product and POS
- Execute sales presentations confidently, while handling objections
- Stay up-to-date on new products and the changing needs of the market
- Lead or assist at tastings, events and festivals throughout the market
- Coordinate with other TCWC team members to ensure standards are being upheld and sales goals are being met
- Service accounts through merchandising products with POS and educating staff
- Hold a high standard of execution for branding throughout the market
- Communication in a timely manner with fellow TCWC team members, customers, and distributors. All communication must be professional, open, honest, and direct in nature
- Professionally and positively represent Traverse City Whiskey Co. at all times
- Bachelors degree or equivalent; or 4+ years industry experience
- Must possess superior communication, customer service skills, and professionalism
- Advanced knowledge of whiskey and adult beverages
- Experience in fostering client relationships
- Keen attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to problem solve quickly, efficiently, and effectively
- Strong negotiating, analytical skills and numeric ability
- A demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and assess priorities effectively
- Experience developing and managing accounts
- Flexibility to work varying hours to accommodate customer needs and events
- Positive attitude and great work ethic
- Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with various types of people
- Self-starter, highly motivated with a high productivity level
- Ability to always act in a professional manner
- Strong computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to attain a Michigan Liquor Control Commission license
- Valid Drivers License with no restrictions
- Must live within assigned market or specifically designated area (30mis from Traverse City)
- Extensive travel required within the State of Michigan
