Montessori Preschool Teacher
Job Description
Job Description
Leap Montessori is looking for a confident, creative, and dependable Montessori teacher to lead our preschool classroom for children ages 3–5.
This position is ideal for someone who is ready to take the next step in their professional journey and wants the opportunity to truly lead a classroom. We are looking for a teacher who understands the Montessori philosophy, values independence and respect, and is excited to create a peaceful, engaging environment where children can learn and grow.
Our lead teachers are encouraged to make their classrooms their own. You will have the freedom to organize the environment, introduce new materials, develop classroom routines, and bring your own ideas and strengths into the program while following Montessori principles and licensing requirements.
Responsibilities
• Create and maintain a beautiful, organized, and inviting Montessori classroom
• Lead a classroom of children ages 3–5 with confidence, warmth, and consistency
• Present Montessori lessons and support children during the daily work cycle
• Encourage independence, concentration, problem-solving, and respect
• Prepare children socially, emotionally, and academically for kindergarten
• Develop lesson plans and activities based on the children’s interests and developmental needs
• Observe each child’s progress and communicate regularly with families
• Guide and support assistant teachers in the classroom
• Maintain accurate classroom records and complete required documentation
• Follow all childcare licensing, health, safety, and sanitation requirements
• Build positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers
• Participate in staff meetings, school events, and professional development
Qualifications
• Montessori certification or formal Montessori training for ages 3–6 is strongly preferred
• Previous experience working with preschool-aged children
• Strong classroom management and leadership skills
• A genuine understanding of and appreciation for Montessori education
• Reliable, professional, patient, and comfortable taking initiative
• Able to communicate clearly and respectfully with families and staff
• Willing to complete all required childcare licensing trainings and background checks
What We Offer
• Competitive pay of $20–$25 per hour
• The freedom to make the classroom your own
• Support from a director who values new ideas and teacher input
• An established classroom and school community
• Opportunities for professional growth and leadership
• A collaborative, close-knit work environment
• The chance to make a meaningful impact on both the classroom and the continued growth of our program
We are looking for someone who does not simply want another teaching position. We want someone who is ready to take ownership of their classroom, grow as an educator, and step confidently into the next chapter of their Montessori career.
