Environmental Health & Safety Specialist | Delta Township, MI

Salary Range: $65,000 - $98,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local EHS regulations and company policies.
• Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards and ensure adherence to safety standards.
• Develop, deliver, and track EHS training programs for employees and contractors.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, determine root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Manage hazardous waste programs, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals.
• Maintain EHS documentation, permits, and reporting systems, including OSHA logs and environmental reports.
• Lead the development and implementation of EHS programs, policies, and procedures to promote a safe and healthy work environment.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
• Minimum of 3 years of EHS experience, specifically within a manufacturing environment.
• In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other federal and state EHS regulations.
• Proven experience in conducting EHS risk assessments, incident investigations, and root cause analysis.
• Ability to develop and deliver effective EHS training programs to diverse employee groups.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with EHS management software (e.g., Gensuite, Intelex, Sphera).
• Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles or continuous improvement methodologies.
• HAZWOPER Trainer certification or advanced first aid/EMT certification.
• Experience working in a unionized manufacturing environment.
