Position Summary
Supports the school district in ensuring a safe, and orderly environment by monitoring the hallways and the students while maintaining confidentiality.
Duties and Responsibilities
(These duties and responsibilities are judged to be "essential functions" in terms of the Americans With Disabilities Act or ADA)
- Supervises and monitors students in the hallways before, during, and after the school day.
- Ensures that students comply with school rules and communicates with students to monitor behavior while in the hallways.
- Must be on time.
- Assist and monitor the locking and unlocking of doors.
- Report conflicts between students to the appropriate administrator when necessary.
- Write disciplinary referrals and involves the school administrator when necessary.
- Assist with school drills i.e. fire, tornado, lockdowns, etc.
- Monitor walkie-talkie for requests of information from staff members.
- Monitor locker clean out.
- Collect and deliver various school related information i.e. passes, tardies, etc.
- Communicate with community, staff, and students to answer questions, disseminate or explain information.

Education:
This position requires high school diploma or equivalent.
Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations: May be required to attend Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) and bloodborne pathogens training.
Experience:
- Experience working with children preferred.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of school policies and safety regulations, required.
Skills:
- Good communication skills, required
Abilities:
- Ability to remain calm during medical emergencies, required.
- Ability to be caring, understanding, and friendly towards students, required.
- Ability to read and interpret school policies and handbook, required.
- Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form, required.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff and community, required.
- Ability to write simple routine reports, required.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English to perform essential job duties, including but not limited to understanding and following safety instructions, responding appropriately to emergency situations, completing documentation, and interacting with English-speaking staff, students, community and supervisors, required.
