ICU RN Job Details

• Location: Dayton, OH 45409 (Ohio healthcare jobs)
• Facility: Neuro Intensive Care Unit (Neuro ICU), Comprehensive Stroke Center
• Assignment Type: Travel RN Contract (Locum Tenens)
• Start Date: September 15, 2025
• End Date: December 15, 2025
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), 36 hours/week
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1800-$1840
• Patient Population: Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
• Unit Size: 36 beds, average daily census: 28
• Floating: Required between Main, South, and North Campuses (within 15 miles)
• Weekend/Holiday Coverage: Every other weekend and holiday required

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (any state; must secure Ohio RN license before start)
• Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU RN experience or 2 years in a comprehensive stroke center at a large hospital
• At least 2 years of overall RN experience
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Proficient in reading and interpreting cardiac strips
• EPIC charting experience required
• Preferred: Previous charge nurse and Level I Trauma experience
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted); COVID-19 vaccine not required
• Must complete EKG/dysrhythmia exam and lab work within 72 hours of contract signing
• Willingness to float and support other ICU units as needed
• Local candidates within 50 miles not accepted

ICU RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-acuity nursing care to patients with neurological diseases, including seizures and strokes
• Manage overflow ICU patients from Medical Surgical ICU and Heart & Vascular ICU
• Assist with bedside procedures: EVD placement, endoscopy, bronchoscopy, trach and G-tube placement, central and arterial line placement
• Operate advanced neurocritical care equipment: ICP monitoring, EVD, Limitor spinal drains, subdural drains, EEG monitors
• Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, manage ventilated patients, and care for traumatic brain injury and post-neurosurgery patients
• Interpret ABGs and dysrhythmias, enforce infection prevention protocols, and document care in EPIC
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams: IV, respiratory, physical therapy, pharmacy, rapid response
• Float to other ICU units and campuses as assigned, supporting the clinical nursing team
