Make a Difference Across Every Stage of Student Development

Staff Connections LLC is seeking a compassionate, motivated, and highly skilled Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our growing team supporting students across a variety of educational settings. This position offers the unique opportunity to work with individuals from Early On/In-Home services, school based, through age 26 adult transition programming , allowing therapists to make a meaningful impact throughout each stage of development.

Our therapists provide services in diverse settings including:

  • Early On / In-Home Services (Birth–3 years old)
  • Elementary Schools
  • Middle Schools
  • High Schools
  • Adult Transition Programs (Ages 18–26)

This role is ideal for an OT who enjoys variety, values flexibility, and is passionate about helping students build independence and reach their full potential.

Job ResponsibilitiesEarly On / In-Home Services (Birth–3)

  • Conduct developmental evaluations for infants and toddlers
  • Provide in-home occupational therapy services focused on developmental milestones
  • Support fine motor, sensory processing, feeding, and self-help skills
  • Educate caregivers on home strategies and developmental support
  • Collaborate with service coordinators and family members on individualized plans

Elementary School

  • Assess student fine motor development, sensory needs, handwriting, self-care skills, and classroom participation
  • Develop and implement IEP goals and therapy plans
  • Provide direct and consultative therapy services
  • Collaborate with teachers, paraprofessionals, and parents
  • Recommend adaptive equipment and classroom accommodations

Middle School

  • Address executive functioning, organization, self-regulation, fine motor skills, and functional independence
  • Support students in navigating increased academic and social demands
  • Participate in IEP meetings and progress reporting
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams

High School

  • Focus on vocational readiness, independent living skills, self-advocacy, and functional participation
  • Support classroom accommodations and transition planning
  • Conduct evaluations and update IEP goals as needed

Adult Transition Programs (Ages 18–26)

  • Assist young adults in developing life skills for post-school success
  • Support vocational training participation
  • Address community mobility, independent living tasks, and employment readiness
  • Collaborate with transition coordinators, job coaches, families, and educational teams

Additional Responsibilities

  • Complete evaluations and re-evaluations in compliance with district timelines
  • Maintain accurate documentation and service logs
  • Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team meetings
  • Ensure compliance with state, district, and federal special education guidelines
  • Maintain communication with families, school staff, and administration
  • Provide recommendations for assistive technology and adaptive equipment when appropriate

Qualifications

  • Master’s or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Current Michigan Occupational Therapy license (if applicable to your state, customize as needed)
  • School-based experience preferred, but not required
  • Experience with pediatric and transition-age populations is a plus
  • Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
