DevSecOps/OpenShift Engineer

Contract Length: 12 months, possible extension

Hybrid – 2 days per week in office

Candidates must be local (defined as within 2 hours commute of Lansing, MI)

Overview:
We are seeking a lead DevSecOps / OpenShift (Kubernetes) Engineer to support large-scale IT modernization projects. The engineer will provide technical leadership, mentor team members, and ensure platform architecture aligns with application and business requirements. This role requires hands-on expertise in containerization, CI/CD automation, cloud DevOps practices, and platform management. Strong collaboration, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

· Lead design, implementation, and management of Azure DevOps (ADO), including Wiki, Work Item structures, Pipelines, Git repos/branches, Pull Requests, and standards/processes.

· Automate CI/CD pipelines for OpenShift (OCP), Linux, Windows, SQL Server, Oracle, and related platforms.

· Build and deploy applications and container images for Java and .NET applications integrated with Apache Tomcat, JBoss, SQL Server, Linux, Windows, Oracle, and other systems.

· Produce process and automation documentation.

· Troubleshoot applications in OpenShift Container Platform environments.

· Create Build, Deployment, and CRD configuration files for OpenShift applications.

· Develop Docker and S2I images, manage StatefulSets, and convert between Docker and S2I images.

· Work with OpenShift/Kubernetes orchestration and maintain custom Helm charts.

· Manage Docker image repositories such as Quay.

· Collaborate with teams to ensure successful deployment, upgrades, and ongoing maintenance of applications.

· Administer and manage Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana), including performance, capacity, and index management.

· Configure Logstash pipelines and grok patterns; utilize Elastic Beats (Filebeat, Heartbeat).

· Integrate SonarQube, Coverity, and Black Duck into DevOps pipelines and code review workflows.

· Utilize Linux scripting (.ksh, bash, Python) and troubleshoot Java applications.

· Ensure secure and reliable networking practices (SSL, TCP/IP, LDAP).

· Provide clear and concise communication and documentation across teams.

Requirements

·8+ years: Experience working with Kubernetes.

·8+ years: Experience working with OpenShift.

·8+ years: Experience in Linux shell scripting.

·5+ years: Expertise in application containerization management.

·5+ years: Experience in DevSecOps practices, infrastructure management, and scripting/programming.

·5+ years: Hands-on experience with:

o OpenShift

o Azure DevOps

o ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana)

o Docker

o SonarQube

o Black Duck

o Linux / Bash / Shell scripting

o S2I

o Python
