Metal Grinder/Finisher
Job summary:
Operates grinding machines to assemble products and product parts to established blueprint and engineering specifications. Selects, mounts, attaches and calibrates a variety of attachments to grind angles, contours, lines, spheres, etc. on to surfaces. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Grinds, sands and polishes the product in the most time efficient and cost effective manner as evidenced by department standards.
2. Responsible for checking all dimensions per the blue print as evidenced by additional measuring and reading of the blue print.
3. Completes the finishing of the product to ensure the appearance meets or exceeds the company standards as evidenced by the final inspection before shipping to the customer.
4. Assists in Assembly as requested by supervisor as evidenced by the production schedule and deadlines.
5. Deliver and distribute all finished products to assembly as evidenced by the traveler.
6. Process job orders in a timely and accurate manner as evidenced by the completed traveler with appropriate job number.
7. Logs into the shop management computer system to allow for an accurate accounting of time spent on a particular job as evidenced by labor reports produced by the E2 system.
8. Responsible to clean up area at the end of each shift as evidenced by supervisor's observation.
9. Assists in shop maintenance to include but not limited to sweeping shop floors, cleaning bathrooms and emptying trash containers as evidenced by supervisor's observation.
10. Other duties as required by supervisor.
Minimum Requirements:
Requires a high school degree in a related area, a formal apprenticeship may be required and at least 2 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

1. Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions.
2. Demonstrated knowledge of material, methods, tools and equipment.
3. Demonstrated ability to work in poor lighting, heating and ventilation.
4. Demonstrated ability to work in extreme hot and cold conditions.
5. Demonstrated ability to work in dirty and noisy areas.
6. Demonstrated ability to operate hand and power tools.
7. Demonstrated ability to interpret blueprints.
8. Demonstrated ability to sketch schematics.
9. Demonstrated ability to work in tight places.
10. Demonstrated ability to lift moderately heavy objects (50-90 pounds).
11. Demonstrated ability to do excessive walking, standing, bending and stooping.
12. Demonstrated ability to maintain proper attendance and punctuality standards.
13. Demonstrated awareness of NSF Standards
