What You’ll Do
As a Parts Advisor, you will help customers, technicians, and the service department get the right parts quickly and accurately. You will be an important part of keeping the dealership running smoothly.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist retail customers, wholesale customers, vendors, and technicians with parts needs
- Answer incoming calls related to parts pricing, availability, and orders
- Greet customers and vendors in a friendly, professional way
- Look up parts accurately using the parts catalog
- Write parts tickets for the service department
- Work closely with the service team to coordinate parts for repairs and maintenance
- Order parts from suppliers based on customer and service department needs
- Fulfill online and phone parts orders
- Communicate clearly with customers about parts status and availability
- Locate out-of-stock parts and place emergency orders when needed
- Notify the Parts Manager of inventory shortages or urgent supply needs
- Make sure all internal parts requests are properly billed on repair orders
- Receive, unpack, and stock parts in the correct locations
- Help maintain accurate inventory records and perpetual inventory controls
- Process core returns, warranties, and parts returns
- Receive customer payments or obtain credit authorization
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional counter, work area, and stockroom
- Use DMS systems, Excel, and other department tools accurately
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who knows the parts business and brings the right attitude every day. Experience matters, but work ethic, reliability, and teamwork matter just as much.
The ideal candidate has:
- Toyota or Honda parts advisor experience highly preferred
- Previous automotive dealership parts or service experience
- Basic understanding of automotive components and systems
- Auto parts sales experience preferred
- Strong computer skills, including DMS and Excel
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Detail-oriented mindset
- Professional appearance and strong work ethic
- Team-player attitude
- Good time management skills
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- Automotive certifications are a plus
