IATF Quality Engineer | Spring Lake, MI

Salary Range: $82,000 - $117,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve the IATF 16949 Quality Management System, ensuring compliance and effectiveness.
• Lead and facilitate APQP/PPAP activities for new product introductions and process changes, meeting all customer-specific requirements.
• Conduct and support internal product, process, and system audits in accordance with IATF 169949 standards.
• Drive root cause analysis and implement effective corrective and preventive actions using 8D methodology for internal and external quality issues.
• Develop, review, and maintain FMEAs, Control Plans, and other quality documentation to ensure robust process control.
• Monitor key quality performance indicators (KPIs) and lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects and improve process capability.
• Act as a primary contact for customer quality concerns, managing resolution and communication in alignment with customer requirements.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing) or a related technical field.
• In-depth knowledge and practical application of IATF 16949 standard requirements.
• Proficiency in AIAG Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC).
• Demonstrated experience with problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys, Ishikawa).
• Certified Internal Auditor for IATF 16949 or significant experience conducting process and product audits.
• Strong analytical skills with experience in statistical process control (SPC) and data analysis.

Bonus Qualifications

• Six Sigma Black Belt certification
• Proficiency in Minitab or other advanced statistical analysis software
• Direct experience managing automotive customer quality portals and requirements (e.g., GM SQMS, Ford Q1)
• Experience leading quality initiatives for New Product Introduction (NPI) or product launches
