JOB TITLE Assistant Professor Public Health Job Purpose Candidates for tenure-track positions will be expected to develop and maintain a robust research program, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, and have research expertise appropriate for the effective mentoring of students at the undergraduate, master's, doctoral and post-doctoral levels. Candidates must demonstrate strong potential to build a nationally recognized, externally funded research program. Expertise in applied epidemiology is preferred. Applicants whose research includes computational modeling, simulation, or data-driven analysis (AI) in public health may be eligible for a joint appointment with the University of Wyoming's School of Computing and additional research resources. This opportunity supports interdisciplinary collaborations. Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Develop an active and independent research program in public health that leads to refereed publications in the scientific community, national/international presentations, and acquisition of funding to support research.
- Additional support and resources are available to candidates working in population health and/or cancer through an affiliate partnership with the University of Utah Huntsman Cancer Institute.
- Provide quality instruction at the undergraduate and graduate levels in public health and/or epidemiology and in related areas within the candidate's area of expertise
- Mentor and advise students
- Provide service to the division, college, university, state, and greater professional society
- Earned doctorate by August 2026 in a public health field from an accredited institution
- Commensurate with career stage, evidence of the following:
- Evidence of research contributions in public health
- Experience teaching university-level courses in public health
- Mentoring and advising undergraduate and/or graduate students
- Evidence of research contributions in public health such as peer reviewed journals and pursuit/acquisition of funding to support research
- Expertise in applied epidemiology
- Experience in primary data collection
- Experience in the translation of research into public health action
- Evidence of research contributions in epidemiology, population health, and/or cancer
- Experience working with diverse populations
- Collaborative and/or interdisciplinary research experience
- Experience delivering online courses in public health
