About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Cogen Supervisor (Cogeneration Supervisor)to oversee daily operations and maintenance of our cogeneration plant—a facility that simultaneously produces electricity and useful thermal energy. This position combines technical oversight of complex power‑generation equipment with strong leadership responsibilities to ensure plant reliability, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
The ideal candidate brings strong operational knowledge of power‑generation systems, proven supervisory experience, and the ability to perform effectively in a fast‑paced industrial setting.
Key Responsibilities
Operational & Technical Oversight
- Supervise daily cogeneration plant operations to meet electrical and thermal energy demand.
- Monitor plant conditions using DCS/SCADA systems and adjust operating parameters for optimal efficiency.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control system issues to minimize downtime.
- Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and P&IDs to support operational decisions.
Staff Supervision
- Lead and mentor a team of cogen operators.
- Manage scheduling, training, certification, performance reviews, and timecard approvals.
- Support professional development and cross‑training initiatives.
Maintenance Coordination
- Plan, prioritize, and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.
- Direct scheduled and emergency maintenance activities, including water testing, lubrication, and filter replacements.
- Coordinate maintenance work with internal teams and outside contractors.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce adherence to OSHA health, fire, and safety standards.
- Maintain environmental compliance related to plant emissions and reporting requirements.
- Conduct safety audits, incident investigations, and ongoing operator safety training.
Project Management
- Assist in identifying, planning, and executing capital projects and long‑term facility improvement initiatives.
- Provide technical input on upgrades, replacements, and system enhancements.
Emergency Response
- Serve as a primary point of contact for plant emergencies or outages.
- Provide rapid response and direction during unplanned events, requiring 24/7 on‑call availability.
Qualifications
Experience
- Typically 5–8+ years in power generation, cogeneration, or industrial plant operations.
- Strong background working with generators and power‑production equipment.
- 1–2 years in a leadership or supervisory role preferred.
Technical Skills
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision‑making abilities.
- Advanced troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Proficiency with DCS/SCADA systems and standard software (Excel, CMMS, Word, Outlook).
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, manuals, and engineering documentation.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Technical diploma, trade certification, or associate degree in engineering, power generation, industrial technology, or related field preferred.
Work Environment
- Industrial setting with exposure to loud, hot, cold, greasy, or oily conditions.
- Requires use of PPE and the ability to work on elevated platforms, ladders, or confined spaces.
- Fast‑paced environment requiring strong situational awareness and consistent attention to safety.
