Travel RN Job Details

• Job Title: Travel Registered Nurse – Med/Surg (Night Shift)
• Location: Kalamazoo, Michigan 49007
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 8/25/2025 – End: 11/24/2025)
• Shift: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00 – 07:30)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1840 - $1890
• Healthcare Setting: 24-bed Med/Surg unit with interdisciplinary clinical support
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Float Requirement: May float to other Med/Surg units, ICU, and Emergency Department waiting areas as needed

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg or Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience (1.5 years preferred)
• BLS (AHA) and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
• Strong post-surgical and clinical competencies
• Experience managing patient ratios up to 1:6
• Flu vaccination required (medical exemptions accepted with documentation)
• Willingness to float to other units as needed
• Experience with electronic medical record/charting systems
• Professional references required

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a busy Med/Surg unit
• Monitor and interpret remote telemetry for patient safety
• Care for patients with colostomies, feeding tubes, and surgical drains
• Manage pre- and post-hemodialysis care, including access ports
• Administer blood products, heparin, insulin, and manage patient-controlled analgesia (PCA)
• Perform peripheral and PICC line care, initiate IVs, and manage chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac)
• Utilize high flow nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, and non-invasive airway management devices
• Conduct wound care and wound vac management
• Follow isolation precautions and infection control protocols
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV therapy, physical therapy, respiratory therapy, and pharmacy
• Float to other hospital units as required to support patient care needs
