Responsibilities*

A research specialist associate position is available immediately for highly-motivated individuals interested in studying relationships between immune system, diet, and the gut microbiota in the development of inflammation and cancer in the colon using mouse models and human samples. Research will involve using molecular biology tools and in vivo mice models. The successful job candidate will be performing tissue dissections, preparation of protein, RNA, and stool samples, and analysis of protein and gene expression by immunoblotting, quantitative PCR, and flow cytometry. The individual will also be monitoring ongoing mouse studies, genotyping as necessary, and performing tissue culture work with cell lines or primary cells harvested from mice.

Required Qualifications*

• Bachelor's degree in biology or related health science field
• Minimum 1-3 years of experience in laboratory bench research.
• The individual must be highly motivated, organized, and willing to learn new techniques/concepts, and demonstrate self-improvement.
• Competence in handling and working with laboratory mice is a must.
• It is also expected that the individual be able to perform experiments, interpret results, troubleshoot problems, and design additional experiments independently.
• The individual should also possess excellent communication skills and work well with other individuals.

Desired Qualifications*

• Master's Degree preferred
• Flexibility in work hours is a plus.

Background Screening
