Esates and Trusts Attorney

Trustpoint One is pleased to partner with a well-established Detroit-area law firm that represents individuals, families, and businesses across Southeast Michigan. This general practice firm is searching for an Attorney to join the firm’s Estate Planning Practice Group. The successful attorney will work collaboratively with attorneys and paralegals to assist clients in protecting their assets, plan, and navigate complex trust and estate matters. The positions offers hybrid flexibility in either the Detroit or Bloomfield Hills office and the opportunity to work closely with experienced practitioners on a broad range of estate planning, trust administration, and probate matters.

Estates and Trusts Attorney Job Responsibilities:

• Draft estate planning documents, including: Wills, Revocable and irrevocable trusts, Powers of attorney and Healthcare directives
• Assist with trust and estate administration matters
• Guide clients through probate and post-death administration
• Conduct client meetings and provide practical legal advice
• Research federal and Michigan estate, gift, and income tax issues
• Prepare and review probate court filings
• Collaborating with senior attorneys on complex planning strategies
• Maintain organized case files and manage deadlines
• Build and maintain strong client relationships

Qualifications:

• J.D. from an accredited law school
• Member, in good standing of the Michigan bar
• 5+ years of experience in estate planning, probate, or trust administration preferred
• Experience with Michigan probate procedures
• Familiarity with estate tax and trust income tax concepts
• Experience drafting sophisticated estate planning documents
• LL.M. in Taxation or Estate Planning (a plus, but not required)
• Experience using estate planning or practice management software
• Strong legal drafting and analytical skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
• Ability to manage multiple matters and meet deadlines
• Professional, detail oriented, client-service-oriented mindset
• Interest in long-term growth within trusts and estates practice

All candidates must be able to work on a computer screen for a sustained amount of time.
