Electrical Estimator

We are looking for a Commercial Electrical Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive estimates for electrical construction projects in the Detroit, Michigan area. This role supports bid strategy, pricing, scope review, and preconstruction planning for commercial and design-build work. The right candidate will be comfortable reviewing plans and specifications, identifying risks, and building complete estimates that help drive profitable project execution. This position is well suited for someone with electrical contracting experience who can work independently and communicate effectively with internal teams, vendors, and subcontractors.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial electrical construction projects

• Review drawings, specifications, addenda, and bid documents to define project scope

• Perform takeoffs for labor, material, equipment, and subcontracted work

• Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing

• Identify scope gaps, exclusions, and value engineering opportunities before bid submission

• Collaborate with operations, project management, and leadership on bid strategy and pricing

• Maintain organized bid files, estimate backups, and proposal documentation

• Assist with change order pricing, budget updates, and post-bid clarifications

• Track market pricing, material costs, and labor trends that impact project profitability

• Support handoff of awarded work to project teams for execution

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in electrical estimating within commercial construction

• Experience with electrical takeoffs, bid packages, and scope review

• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and construction documents

• Strong knowledge of labor, material, and equipment pricing for electrical work

• Experience working for an electrical contractor or closely related construction environment

• Proficiency with estimating software, Excel, and digital plan platforms

• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines

• Clear communication skills and ability to work with vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams
