Validation Engineer
Location: Pontiac, MI (On-site – Laboratory Environment)
Pay Rate: $45–48/hour (W2)
Schedule:
- Training (~4 months): 1st shift, Mon–Fri, 8 AM–5 PM
- Post-training: 3rd shift, Sun–Thu, 10 PM–6 AM
Duration: 12 Months | Possible Extension or Conversion
Position Overview
The Validation Engineer will plan, develop, and execute system- and component-level validation testing for propulsion and powertrain systems — including engines, transmissions, batteries, and electric drive units.
This is a hands-on, lab-based role supporting the Global Powertrain & Electrification Validation (GPEV) team, focused on ensuring performance, durability, and safety through rigorous testing and data analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute validation test plans, methods, and automation scripts.
- Operate safely within advanced test lab environments.
- Perform root cause analysis and support corrective actions for validation issues.
- Analyze test data, identify trends, and present findings.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineers, lab technicians, and system leads.
- Support validation planning, scheduling, and documentation for assigned programs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Math, Computer Science, IT, or Chemistry.
- Minimum 2 years of engineering experience (post-graduation).
- Strong communication and teamwork in a diverse technical environment.
- Ability to quickly learn complex propulsion or powertrain systems.
- Familiarity with Inca and/or Puma software.
- Experience working with laboratory equipment (dynos, shakers, power supplies, test controllers).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with electrical, thermal, or chemical modeling and simulation.
- Calibration or development experience in automotive or propulsion systems.
- Knowledge of battery systems, Li-Ion technology, and RESS testing.
- Familiarity with instrumentation, test automation, and data analysis tools.
- Understanding of reliability/durability testing and validation methods.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work independently.
Top 3 Must-Have Skills
- 2–4 years of hands-on experience with internal combustion engines (ICE) or propulsion systems.
- Experience in a lab/test environment (safety, instrumentation, troubleshooting).
- Ability to analyze test data and identify good vs. bad results.
Interview Process
- 1 round, on-site interview + facility tour (approx. 90 minutes).
