The Outsider is Manistee’s award-winning tavern and pinball arcade—known for big flavor, good energy, and a team that takes pride in doing things right. We’ve built a name on crave-worthy food, a fun atmosphere, and the kind of service that keeps people coming back. Our kitchen has earned some serious local love, including Best Burger, Best Fry, and Best New Restaurant in the Advocate Readers’ Choice Awards, along with Emerging Business Award in 2025!

We’re looking for a Cook who brings urgency, consistency, creativity, and positive energy to the line. This is a great fit for someone who loves a fast-paced kitchen, works clean, communicates well, and takes real pride in serving food that looks great and tastes even better.

What You’ll Do

• Follow recipes, presentation standards, and food safety best practices
• Maintain excellent personal hygiene and wash hands frequently
• Communicate clearly with the kitchen and front-of-house team to keep service running smoothly
• Follow portion control standards and help minimize food waste
• Log kitchen temperatures and report any hazardous readings to management
• Clean, inspect, and monitor kitchen equipment to ensure proper performance
• Prepare and plate menu items to meet our quality and consistency standards
• Label, date, and store all in-house prepared food properly
• Keep food storage areas clean, organized, and up to standard
• Observe food flow and actively reduce cross-contamination risks
• Stay coachable, open to training, and eager to grow your culinary skills
• Assist the front-of-house team in getting orders out quickly and keeping guests happy
• Collaborate with management on menu ideas, specials, and kitchen improvements

• Growing schedule: Minimum 20 hours/week
• Great pay: Base + tips, with expected earnings of $17–$23/hour
