PCU Travel Nurse Job Details

- Assignment Type: Locum Tenens / Travel Registered Nurse
- Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Interventional Cardiology Advanced Care
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1950 - $2000
- Start Date: September 15, 2025
- End Date: February 2, 2026
- Duration: 20 weeks (13-week RN contracts also available)
- Shift: Night shifts, 12 hours (19:00 - 07:30)
- Hours per Week: 36 or 48 hours accepted
- Patient Ratios: Target 1:4, may be up to 1:5-6
- Setting: On-site at a leading Dayton hospital
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (any state; compact nursing license accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of recent PCU or Stepdown RN experience (ICU experience not counted)
- Experience with 1:5 patient ratio in PCU or Stepdown required
- BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association)
- NIHSS certification preferred
- EPIC charting experience required
- Must pass online EKG telemetry competency assessment prior to start
- Proficiency with cardiac procedures and drips (Cardizem, Cardene, dobutamine, dopamine, heparin, nitro, insulin)
- Ability to draw ABGs and interpret cardiac strips
- Travel nursing experience preferred
- Available to work every other weekend and holiday
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
- No prior license action accepted
- Deliver high-quality patient care in the PCU, including cardiac, liver, heart, and respiratory failure, GI bleeds, sepsis, vascular surgery, and detox/withdrawal cases
- Manage cardiac drips and anti-arrhythmic initiation for post-cath, ablation, pacer/ICD patients
- Collaborate in a team nursing model with RNs, LPNs, and PCTs
- Float to other hospital units as needed (main, south, and north campuses)
- Document patient care using EPIC electronic medical record (EMR) system
- Perform and interpret EKGs, draw ABGs, and respond to rapid response situations
- Follow infection control, isolation precautions, and hospital policies
- Wear navy blue scrubs as required by unit policy
