HOST/HOSTESS-FINE DINING ATMOSPHERE

JOE MUER SEAFOOD/DETROIT, MI

Joe Muer Seafood, located in the GM Renaissance center overlooking the Detroit River, is seeking a polished, professional, and composed HOST/HOSTESS to served as the critical first and last impression for our world-class dining establishment.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, possesses exceptional poise under pressure, and is dedicated to maintaining the elegant atmosphere and impeccable service standards that define our 90 year legacy.

KEY RESPONSIBILIITIES

As the conductor of the dining floor, your primary duty is to manage the flow of service and ensure every guest's experience begins and ends flawlessly.

Guest Experience and Poise

• Warm Welcome : Enthusiastically greet and acknowledge every guest upon arrival and departure, using the guest's name when appropriate.
• Dining Decorum: Answer guest inquiries regarding dining policies, reservations, and special occasions with sophistication and composure.
• Phone Etiquette : Professionally manage a high volume of incoming calls, handling reservations, confirming details, and managing to-go orders with impeccable politeness and accuracy.

RESERVATION AND FLOW MANAGEMENT

• Seating Strategy : Control the pace of the dining room by accurately managing the flow of seating the reservation system.
• Floor Control : Strategically seat guests according to server rotation, balancing sections to prevent overwhelming the service staff.
• Wait Time Management: Give guests accurate wait time estimates and proactively manage the lobby and waiting areas with grace and attentiveness.

OPERATIONAL SUPPORT

• Maintain the pristine condition of the host stand, menus, and dining room entryway.
• Clearly communicated important guest notes, special requests, and any potential issues to the management and serving team.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience : Previous experience in a high-volume, upscale, or fine dining environment is strongly preferred.
• Composure : Proven ability to remain calm, professional, and gracious while handling high-pressure situations and challenging guest requests.
• Communication : Exceptional verbal communication skills and a friendly, articulate phone presence.
• Organizations : Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills for managing reservation systems and seating charts.
• Availability : Must have the flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required by the fine dining schedule.
