Job Description
This is a first-shift Quality Technician role working on the production floor from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The position focuses on inspecting precision medical parts to ensure they meet strict customer quality requirements and aesthetic standards. You will perform in-process and final inspections, verifying dimensions and visual appearance so that every part leaving the facility meets high standards of quality and reliability.
Responsibilities
- Perform detailed in-process and final inspections of medical parts on the production floor to ensure they meet customer specifications and internal quality standards.
- Check each part at least twice before it leaves the building, confirming both dimensional accuracy and visual appearance.
- Measure critical dimensions using calipers, micrometers, gages, optical comparators, vision systems, and Keyence equipment.
- Assist with or perform inspections using coordinate measuring machines (CMM), with training provided as needed.
- Interpret and apply information from blueprints and technical drawings to verify part features and tolerances.
- Assess parts for cosmetic quality to ensure they look clean, consistent, and suitable for end users.
- Use microscopes, magnifiers, and other optical devices to conduct close visual inspections and detect defects.
- Maintain accurate, clear, and concise inspection records and technical documentation, including written reports and approvals.
- Follow established quality control and quality assurance procedures throughout the inspection process.
- Handle inspection jobs that may range from hundreds to thousands of pieces, maintaining focus and productivity throughout the shift.
- Collaborate with production personnel to communicate inspection findings and support continuous quality improvement.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and proper use of personal protective equipment, including required eyewear.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
- Hands-on experience performing inspection and quality checks in a manufacturing or similar environment.
- Ability to use calipers, micrometers, gages, optical comparators, vision systems, and related quality instruments.
- General knowledge of decimal point placement and basic dimensional measurement principles.
- Strong visual inspection skills, including attention to detail for both dimensional and cosmetic features.
- Specific vision abilities, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus on optical devices.
- Ability to use microscopes, magnifiers, and optical comparators for detailed inspections.
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to prepare, review, and approve technical documentation.
- Capability to sit and/or stand for extended periods during the shift.
- Ability to lift 20 pounds or more as needed to handle parts and inspection setups.
- Prior knowledge or experience in quality control inspection (preferred but not strictly required).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working in a precision manufacturing environment, especially with tight tolerances.
- Familiarity with medical device or high-precision component inspection.
- Exposure to CMM equipment, with willingness to learn and receive training where needed.
- Experience in quality control, quality assurance, or quality inspection roles.
- Comfort working with a variety of inspection tools and adapting to new equipment and methods.

Work Environment
The work takes place on the production floor in designated inspection areas, so parts and jobs are organized and readily accessible without extensive searching. You will handle inspection jobs that can range from approximately 500 to 2,000 pieces, and you are expected to remain engaged and productive throughout the entire shift. The environment emphasizes precision and cleanliness, with tight tolerances and high standards for both dimensional and visual quality. You will regularly use calipers, micrometers, gages, microscopes, magnifiers, optical comparators, vision systems, Keyence equipment, and may use CMMs with training. The position follows a first-shift schedule of 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Eye protection is required at all times; safety glasses are provided, and prescription glasses may be worn if preferred. Safety shoes are not required, but leather uppers with non-slip soles are expected as part of the dress code.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
