QA Tester

Job Description:

The Michigan Department of Technology, Management, and Budget (DTMB) is seeking a QA Tester to support Treasury services . The Test Analyst will be responsible for supporting quality assurance (QA) testing activities , collaborating with business analysts and developers, and ensuring thorough validation of SAP Financials and GenTax implementations. This role requires strong test planning, execution, defect tracking, and QA tool experience .

Specialty Areas:

• SAP Financials & GenTax Testing – Preferred experience in testing financial applications and tax administration systems .
  

• QA Requirement Analysis & Test Planning – Ability to translate business requirements into structured test cases and scenarios .
  

• Defect Tracking & Resolution – Experience in identifying, reporting, and retesting defects .
  

• QA Tracking Tools – Proficiency in tools such as Solution Manager, HP ALM, or similar QA tracking platforms .
  

• Functional & Integration Testing – Strong understanding of system interactions and end-to-end workflows .
  

Responsibilities:

• Communicate and interact with Business Analysts (BA) and development teams during the requirements, development, and testing processes .
  

• Create test scenarios to validate acceptance criteria of customer requirements.
  

• Execute functional and integration testing to ensure proper system functionality.
  

• Collaborate with third-party vendors to ensure comprehensive test coverage.
  

• Perform Quality Assurance (QA) checks to ensure that only fit-for-purpose code is delivered into test environments.
  

• Attend business and technical meetings to verify requirements, prioritize test cases, and resolve issues.
  

• Develop and maintain test scripts, execution logs, and test reports .
  

• Monitor and track test execution progress, defects, and resolutions.
  

• Coordinate re-testing of defects via business representatives or walkthroughs with third-party providers.
  

• Prepare and maintain test documentation , including test scripts, activity schedules, reports, and progress charts .
  

• Act as a liaison between QA, business, and development teams to ensure smooth test execution.
  

• Support test team members and business stakeholders in testing-related activities.
  

• Manage time, reporting, risks, issues, and QA change management processes .
  

• Assist in other testing activities as assigned by the Test Team Lead .

Mandatory Requirements:

• Experience with QA testing methodologies , including requirement analysis, test planning, execution, and defect tracking .
  

• Proficiency in QA tracking tools such as Solution Manager or HP ALM .
  

• Ability to work closely with business and technical teams to ensure effective test coverage .
  

• Strong communication and reporting skills .
  

• Must be local to Dimondale, MI , or within 90 minutes of travel time .
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with SAP Financials .
  

• Experience testing GenTax or similar tax administration software .
  

• Familiarity with government financial systems .
