The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and modify precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
• Operate conventional and CNC machine tools, including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDMs.
• Interpret complex blueprints, CAD models, and engineering specifications for tooling.
• Perform precision measurements and inspections using various metrology equipment.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain existing tooling to support production operations.
• Select appropriate materials and apply heat treatments for tool longevity and performance.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams on tool design improvements and problem-solving.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proficiency in operating manual and CNC machine tools (lathes, mills, grinders, EDMs).
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and GD&T specifications.
• Strong understanding of metallurgy, heat treatment processes, and various tool steels.
• Proven experience in fabricating, repairing, and maintaining precision tooling, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
• Excellent metrology skills, including the use of precision measuring instruments and CMMs.

Bonus Qualifications

• Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam) for design and programming
• Experience with various welding techniques (e.g., TIG, MIG) for tool repair and fabrication
• Knowledge of heat treatment processes for different tool steels
• Familiarity with CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) operation for precise inspection
