Maintenance Mechanic/Electrician (Holland)

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provides maintenance support to manufacturing through machine maintenance (setup, troubleshooting, repairs and preventive maintenance service). Develops and implements work area changes to assure worker safety.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Support verification of electrical safety in equipment design for equipment launch.
• Ability to read electrical prints
• Resolve equipment stoppage and downtown problems and perform root cause failure analysis.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management teams.
• Daily interface with technical staff on project assignments, updates, and problem solving.
• Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment.
• Prepares and sets up machinery for scheduled production runs.
• Diagnoses problems, replaces or repairs parts, tests and makes adjustments.
• Performs mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
• Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
• Complies with MIOSHA Safety and Health rules.
• Maintains clean and orderly work areas.
• Follows established safety guidelines.
• Shuttles parts and / or equipment in plant using lift truck.
• Picks up necessary parts from suppliers.
• Performs scheduled preventive maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to work independently, providing technical solutions and support to manufacturing operations
• Experience with PLC’s preferred
• Familiarity with root cause analysis
• Ability to use variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment
• Ability to read technical machine repair manuals
• Ability to read prints
• Ability to use gages, micrometers, calipers, and tape measure
• Must be team player
• Ability to obtain lift truck license
• Valid Michigan driver’s license with excellent driving record

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Electrical Journeyman License (highly preferred)
• Experience in PLC, HMI programming and troubleshooting (A-B)
• Technical training in machine repair and work area safety preferred
• Three to five years of experience in equipment maintenance
• Associates degree preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate and exchange accurate information with co-workers.
• The employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position and occasionally traverse the facility.
• The employee will constantly operate equipment that requires dexterity, grip, and detection of minute details in material using a variety of tools and equipment.
• The employee occasionally is required to ascend/descend, and position themselves around equipment, tools and fixturing.
• The employee must frequently move, lift, and/or transport components, tools, and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
• Specific abilities required by this job include the ability to perceive items up close, observe items in the distance, distinguish between colors, and have the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT :

• Position will function in a factory environment with assembly and welding operations.
• The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud.
• The work environment is occasionally dusty.
